Can an Over-Discharged Lithium Battery Be Recovered?

A lithium battery showing 0% SOC or refusing to charge is not necessarily a dead battery.
In many cases, the BMS has triggered over-discharge protection and disconnected the battery to protect the cells.
So, what should you do?
1️⃣ Diagnose before charging
First, measure the total pack voltage and every cell/string voltage. Then check the BMS status and look for warning signs such as swelling, leakage, deformation or abnormal heating.
2️⃣ Classify the discharge level
For an 8S LiFePO4 battery pack:
